Product Description Need bread crumbs? Or perhaps you like making your own lamb, chicken or pork burgers, or sausages? Then again maybe you make baby food at home to avoid artificial ingredients? For all of these tasks you can enlist the help of your powerful KitchenAid stand mixer thanks to this fabulous attachment.
Amazon.com Review This tool increases the fun factor of your KitchenAid stand mixer several times over. Toss cubes of meat into the food tray, stomp 'em down, and watch the results wriggle out the front. Grind your own beef or chicken for patties or tacos. Blend your own sausage mixtures, from breakfast to boudin blanc. With additional attachments, you can turn it into a pasta maker or a sausage stuffer. It's easy to assemble and use. Most parts are dishwasher-safe; hand wash the grinding blades, wooden stomper, and cutting knife. --Betsy Danheim

Food grinder & sausage stuffer March 7, 2010 J. B. Fiacco (Summerville, SC USA) I used both the food grinder and sausage stuffer yesterday. Both worked flawlessly. None of the problems or issues that showed up in some of the reviews. Made Italian sausage and it turned out great!
Good product March 3, 2010 Frank La Fauci (Coconut Creek, FL, US) Grinding some cuts of beef may produce a little grizzle. Otherwise, it is great and you don't have to worry what else is mixed into the chopped meat. Note - this is not a cheese grater, but we tried it to grind hard cheese (like Romano). It took on a different texture because it was not grated (larger pieces) but very tasty in salads and pastas.
A MUST GET ITEM! February 27, 2010 Debbie (Chesterfield, MI USA) This grinder is excellent and fast! I love making hash and it saves time and is easy to clean up! A must get add on.
Love this to make fresh ground chicken for tacos! February 27, 2010 T. Leech (Las Vegas) I bought this attachment over 3 years ago and don't use it as frequently as some of my other kitchen appliances but it has been used many times. I use it to make fresh meatballs by grinding pork and beef together, I double grind it. I grind up lots of chicken and freeze it in 1 lb loaves using my foodsaver and that makes great tacos and chicken meatloaf. I've never had a single problem with this grinder. As with any grinder cleaning it is bothersome but after rinsing the meat chunks out of it I just throw it all in the dishwasher using a baby bottle basket for the smaller parts. This is great for my occasional grinding!
Clogs, Grease and Doesn't Grind February 17, 2010 OCD Foodie (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I cook all the time and have spent a good deal of money on many kitchen gadgets. Some of these are more useful than others, but the Kitchen Aid Food Grinder Attachment is absolutely useless. In fact, it's so useless that I won't bother keeping it. I imagine that the good reviews on the site have been planted by marketers and not real people who actually cook.
Why do I hate this particularly tool? First, the meat doesn't always grind. When I tried to grind duck, the result was some mush from the meat getting stuck in the grinder and just spinning inside the mechanism. Other pieces would come out in 4 inch long strands as if I was trying to fashion batons or julienne from the meat. It's hardly appetizing to bite into a meatball and have it unravel like a ball of yarn in your mouth. Not exactly the texture you're looking for! Furthermore, a lot of the meat had grease from the machine on it so I had to weed out about a quarter of it creating a lot of waste. If both of those things weren't enough, the machine clogs and doesn't really move through the grinder at all. Last, it only adds insult to injury when the machine that didn't work has to be cleaned and it's a pain to do so. Come to think of it, I should have just thrown the darn thing away since I will NEVER use it again. Of course I could try to recover my cost by selling it, but I wouldn't wish this piece of garbage on my old employer whom I despise with a passion.
